Name of Layout The Motown Express Railroad

Greetings & Welcome to the MOTOWN EXPRESS RAILROAD. Here in Motown my 9 year old daughter & I collect and model Lionel O-Scale & G-Scale trains. Our Railroad consist of passenger & freight services & our favorite railroad is the "DT&I" (DETROIT TOLEDO & IRONTON). On our layout you would see Lionel Scale engines consisting of Hudson's, Mohawks, Diesel A-B-A F3 combos, GP-9 & GP-7 lash-ups. A lot of the freight cars and engines you see are CuStOm airbrushed and weathered as to the prototype. Penn Central, Ann Arbor, New York Central, Port Huron & Detroit, Detroit & Toledo Shoreline, Conrail, & Grand Trunk are just a few of the road names you would see on the line. *****The RAILROAD***** Has 5 main lines with sidings, a switching yard, and a raised trolley service that travels through the DETROIT Motor City Skyline. Their are (12) O-72 powered switches, 2,800 feet of 12 gauge wire running the trains, buildings, street lights, and accessories. The Trains run off of (3) 275 watt Lionel ZW transformers, and everything else runs off of (7) 1033 Lionel Transformers & (1) Lionel KW Transformer. The entire layout is Train Master Command Control, consisting of (6) power masters, (1) Command base,(1) Lionel Transmitter, & (1) lazy-boy chair to operate the entire layout from, hahaha....
The theme for the layout is based on & around the "DETROIT MOTOR-CITY". Era: 1940s - 1980ish) but we like to incorporate the legendary trademarks which are located around the USA. We feel it adds a little realism to the layout. I also can't forget to add that we not only like to display the legendary trademarks but also real life like scenes in the good areas of town and the "Not" so good areas, hahha... I would of ran out of ink trying to document my experiences in the past but as they pop back into my head I will continue to create more interesting scenes for your enjoyment. Who knows, maybe they will give you some great ideas for your own layout... *****The layout is still under construction & I have recently added an addition to it along with some more buildings, people, cars, and accessories. The layout will continue to grow and become more interesting as time and space will allow, but for now I will continue to add and delete pictures as I make further progress on the layout... Thanks for Stopping by and make sure you take another trip back to check out more pictures and progress on the "MOTOWN EXPRESS RAILROAD"... Until Next time, Happy Railroading & God Bless !!!
